Congratulations to retired Collinsville High School Latin teacher Mary Lee Muniz who was recently honored with the Illinois Classical Conference's Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication to the field.

Muniz joined the Kahok family in August 1981 and served as the CHS Latin teacher until her retirement at the end of the 2010-11 school year.

During her time at CHS, she created a vibrant community around Latin class and Latin Club at the high school.  The program continues to thrive today under the direction of current Latin teacher James Stark.

The ICC Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to ICC and to the promotion of Classics in the State of Illinois over at least a ten year period.

The award was presented by ICC President Professor Yoandy Cabrera Ortega.
